One of the most frequently requested features related to SharePoint is the ability to create reminder notifications for tasks that are assigned in SharePoint. Reminders are not a function that SharePoint performs out of the box and even using a tool like SharePoint Designer can be difficult to configure to send different levels of alerts in addition to requiring the workflow be deployed to each list and library that needs these alerts.

§ Send alerts to a specific user/distribution group or dynamically based on the list or document attribute

§ Use specific views or build filters
§ Send a summary email for multiple items that meet the alert criteria
§ For more complex alert conditions build queries based on CAML to determine what data to alert on
